Cindy Shyu
President, Taiwan Public Television Service
After joining the Taiwan Public Television Service Foundation (PTS), Cindy Shyu initially served as a producer in the News Department, earning the 10th Taiwan Outstanding Journalist Research Award in 1999. From 2005 onward, she served as the Director of the Planning Department, where she led teams in the production of numerous popular drama series. Since August 2020, she has held the position of Acting President at PTS, officially assuming the role of President in August 2022. In the same year, PTS launched the international streaming platform TaiwanPlus, offering English-language news and various content from Taiwan.
In 2023, PTS hosted the International Public Television Conference (INPUT), attracting more than 300 public media professionals from 30 countries to Taiwan for the first physical INPUT conference in the post-pandemic era.
During her tenure as President of PTS since 2022, international co-operation has been a key focus. PTS has continued to engage in co-productions with various media organizations, including NHK in Japan, France TV in France, ZDF in Germany and Mediacorp in Singapore, among others. These collaborations encompass a wide range of program genres, including documentaries, reality shows and dramas. This year, PTS will collaborate with PMA to co-organize an international symposium exploring “Opportunities and Challenges Faced by PSM in the Age of AI,” further advancing the development of an international communication network.
