Julie Grenier

Director General, Taqramiut Nipingat Inc.

Julie Grenier is from Kuujjuaq, Nunavik and is of Inuk and colonial (French) heritage. Julie started her career in communications 20+ years ago and is now Director General with Taqramiut Nipingat, a charitable not for profit entity wholly owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, that broadcasts television and radio content regionally, all in the Inuktitut language.


Julie also holds various positions in and out of the media industry, including the position of Chair of the Board of Directors for APTN for the last 5+ years, where she has held a seat for nearly 10 years. She has also been working with ESUMA, a concertation table that works towards helping youth of all ages in Nunavik, achieve success in their learning paths.


An artist in her own right, Julie also sits on the Board of Directors of the Inuit Art Foundation, where she can work with and for Inuit artists from around the globe.


Julie has produced and directed a long list of series and documentaries in Inuktitut, for both regional and national broadcast, including the feature documentary on Nobel Peace Prize nominee and climate change activist, Sheila Watt-Cloutier. She has also been recognized regionally, provincially and nationally for her work.


More recently, Julie has been advocating on the importance of indigenous language production for the learning and retention of languages, specifically for indigenous peoples in Canada and around the world.
